Hike Lake Tahoe ~ South

Our hiking challenge of 2018 has brought us to so many new trails. Some recommended some stumbled upon. Some stunning some a little lackluster. Some closer some far. It’s always an adventure out there.

Today we set out for one spot and just couldn’t find the place we set out for so sort of discouraged we decided to try again another day. Off to go find lunch since we went since we wasted the morning hunting for our trailhead. We spotted Blue Dog Pizza in South Lake. As we were looking for parking we spotted Van Sickle Bi State Park. Just across the street so we pulled in. What an awesome adventure we had. Sometimes our best hiking days are the unplanned ones.

After lunch (because pizza first, ha!) we headed out to explore the park not really knowing what to expect.

We ended up hiking from the lower lot to the upper lot across the state line which was fun for the kids! Then up the Tahoe Rim Trail we went. Stopped to checkout the view from the rock overlook and then continued on up to the waterfall. Just about 4 miles round trip from our car. The kids were troopers especially with the elevation gain. In the end it was one of our favorite hikes so far this year!

Here are a few pictures.

Thanks for following our adventures.
