Reno, Nevada

Reno! “The Biggest Little City In The World”.

We spent some time checking out the city as we were in town looking for fresh hiking trails. We scored a cheap hotel room for the night in one of the downtown casinos which allowed us to see some of the lights of the city as we drove in and also get an early start in the morning.

We walked the downtown area before most of the city was awake because, well…kids. Ha.

We stopped at these places for pictures and play time.

✔Playa Art Park. 520 N. Virginia St.

✔ Reno Riverwalk District: It runs along Reno’s California Ave.

Lots of public art, restaurants, and shops along the Truckee River.

✔Art Walk Reno. Self quided tour or you can sign up for a guided walk here:

After getting a delicious meal we set out to explore the Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Washoe County.

We hiked a learned a lot about local history. The kids enjoyed the easy hiking trails and old farm equipment. You can visit the Western Heritage Interpretive Center and the Old Huffaker Schoolhouse while in the park. Pack snacks for afterwards and you can enjoy a shaded picnic area and let the kids play before moving on.

I wanted to add a couple other options for hikes in the area as well.

1) Hunter Creek Trail

2) Galena Creek Regional Park

3) Huffaker Hills

4) Tom Cook Trail

5) Oxbow Nature Study Area

6) May Arboretum and Herman Pond Trail

While your in Reno just make sure to get your photo under the famous Reno Arch!
